A blowjob. No one ever felt like a failure after getting one no matter how bad it was.

A strong connection to God. Or the devil, take your pick.

All studies say that intelligince is the most important predictor of success so I am going with that.

But would you hire someone you don't like?

It depends on how you define "successful". I think most here are interpreting it career wise, so sticking with that if I had to pick absolutely one thing it'd probably be intelligence. Morons do not normally make it very far career wise.
And I don't necessarily mean just book smart. Intelligence to me means being aware of your surroundings, and being able to think critically about situations. If you have that, you can pretty much do anything.

Sometimes you have no choice in my industry if you know what I mean.

Drive
This. If you are driven, then everything you do is something towards accomplishing your goals. If one is driven then they are constantly motivated. You don't get sidetracked and you have no problem overcoming obstacles.
I think you could have a lot of other qualities (intelligence, common-sense, faith, etc.) but being driven is the most important ingredient to being successful. Drive seems to be a common characteristic among most successful people.
