Small SUV, bought new. Lasted almost 8 years (79K miles) until someone ran a stop sign and totaled it. Was going to drive it into the ground.

What was your first car and how long did it last?

1957 Austin Healey 100-6. Bought it for 350 bucks in 1973. Still have it.

Nice! I had two cars at same time as a high schooler setting a bad precedent for the years to come. 1968 Triumph GT6+ and a 1978 MGB.

1st car was an 87 corolla my dad bought me for like $1800(iirc). I paid for gas, maintenance and insurance. This was in 1995.

Lasted me until 1997; when the engine just died on me. What sucked was that I was just fired from my job like a day before.

'89 Chevy Blazer in 2000. Loved that two-tone bastard. Wrecked it 3 days after I got it going mudding. Then the fender was a different color also. Drove that ugly hunk of metal for 3 more years until i got to br and some jackass slammed on his brakes on an on ramp.

'99 Nissan Altima.

It was running great until some lady on her cell phone totaled it while parked on the street in 2007. I was about to take it to college but ended up carless for my freshman year.

Still bitter.

A Volvo 240 DL. I blew the engine and had to fix it myself.

I didn't understand vehicle electronics then, so I had a push button I had to hold down to make it idle at a stop.

I bought the Healey in high school. Drove it while fixing it up. When I went to college, I bought a 1968 Series 1 1/2 E type 2+2.(paid $2750) So when I got out of college I had a piece of crap Jag and the junky Healey. Sold the Jag for about what I paid for it. Still think I made the correct decision.
