Since there have been quite a few mentioning Jonny Quest, you guys may be interested in this documentary I found on YouTube. It's super long, but it's pretty well done and goes into incredible depth about the making of the show. I started watching it one Saturday before Christmas and became engrossed in it and ended up watching all three parts in one sitting.

GI Joe and He-Man. I used to love both of those. Its disappointing that there hasn't been a well done movie for either one.

He-man had a shitty movie in the 80s. GI Joe has the Rise of Cobra which sucks and Retaliation isn't much better.

They hold up because they were made for adults to be played prior to WB movies. It's why as an adult you truly get all the subtle bits in there that you almost certainly missed as a kid watching the reruns on Saturday morning.

I didn’t really mean for me (although it still does) as much as I did for multiple generations of kids after their original release. Good is good I guess.

Yeah, that's all I meant. They're still so good because they were meant to entertain adults back when entertainment folks assumed their audiences were fairly smart. Plus, most of the stories are pretty evergreen, in that there is very little social commentary in them from the time they were made. It's just funny for funny's sake.

Only time they stray a bit is when they make references to actors or entertainers at the time that people today might not remember. Hollywood Steps Out is a good example of that...

Cant believe I havent seen Pokemon mentioned yet, I was a big ole weeb when I was a kid and used to watch the hell out of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh. I used to be able to name every single of the original 151 Pokemon when I was a kid, I am sure I drove my parents crazy but god bless them for putting up with me and my Japan obsessed self.

Special mention to Spongebob and Fairly Oddparents also, I used to get stoned and watch Spongebob with some friends when I was at LSU.

ETA since I have kids now and my TV is on cartoon channels a lot, I've become find of a show on Cartoon Network called "Regular Show". It's may be dumb to everyone else, but I love it for some reason. Been binging it on HULU lately .

Kids today will never know the excitement of Saturday morning cartoons.

Waking up before the sun came up, crushing an entire box of Kaboom cereal and vegging out until about 11 in front of the TV. Then going outside to play the rest of the day.
