Not a massive strategic blunder,but one that doesn’t get talked about is allowing Gibraltar to stand. He didn’t have enough transport to invade Great Britain. But he could have gathered transports in the south of France away from British air power and launched an attack on Gibraltar. Capturing that could have choked off British resupply in North Africa and the Mediterranean. Malta falls (it almost did, anyway) and Italian and German supply convoys to the Afrika Korps can proceed unmolested. If the British 8th Army falls in Africa, Germany gains access to Egyptian oil. Troops bogged down in fighting in Africa can then be used to reinforce Barbarossa and leave the Italians to garrison Africa.
