Thank you. We recognize that we won't see a return on it so to speak from a financial standpoint and that's okay ... our children enjoy it and we really like being able to host our friends and family.

There's a lot of value in that for sure.

Will, the entire set up? 80k to 100k? I'm going for something similar. Trying to get my budget lined out.

If you're interested in getting a pool, go get a fricking estimate and find out for yourself. I just gave you a basic breakdown of what adds up in a pool. Type of stone is different cost, type of tile work is different cost, amount of decking and type of decking is different cost, number and type of water features are different cost. There is not 1 type of pool with all inclusive features, so call a pool company if you want a breakdown. There is a reason Lexus cost more than Toyota. Same with pools.

OTGT at Will Cover's house!!!

Is it bad that I am more jealous of that covered grill/bar area?

Pool was $46K. Outdoor kitchen was $70K - $75K. I honestly lost track once that project kept growing and growing.

We have 9 ft. slab of granite for island bar, top of the line appliances, Sonic type ice maker, hot water heater, hot water dispenser, garbage disposal, Cypress beams and ceiling, blah blah blah.

Overkill. But we like it.

You must be lying because I was told in this thread a decent pool starts at $60k.

I think I can get similar for $80k. I'm keeping the high end appliances in the house. I'm not OT baller status yet.
People who are talking $70 to $80 for a pool are getting fricked. You can get a nice pool and hot tub for $50k.

I had a great landscape architect design our layout. Ended up getting three bids. Highest bid for pool was $77K for the same type of design, i.e. apples to apples comparison.

We ended up going with lowest bid for pool and have been the happiest. Our contractor is very responsive and has been there for any warranty or service work needed, which has been minimal.

We certainly went overboard. Initially, before we hired a landscape architect, we were going to go with a spray painted design layout for our pool and attach some appliances to the back wall of our house and call it a day.

Certainly would have been less expensive, but perhaps not what we would have wanted in the long run.

If you can control your spouse and keep her in line with a defined budget, I think $90K can be realistic for everything.

Is that an egg in the outdoor grill area?

By the way, your pool is beautiful.

I thought getting a pool was going to be fantastic until I started the upkeep.I am so freaking tired of buying chemicals and keeping it clean.

Do what we did in college. Buy one of these at WalMart wach May and return it each September. Free pool for the summer.

Smith and Baker. Eric Smith was great to work with.

He'll get my future business from here on out if we decide to tackle anything else outside.

If you spend 50 to 60K on a pool spend the money to get someone to service it.
