didn't read the whole thread, so apologies if its been said, but,
Don't Cut or Shave Double Coated Dogs
Examples of double coated dogs: Chows, Collies, Golden Retrievers, Labs, Beagles, Huskies etc.. Shaving a dog does not make them shed any less – they just shed shorter hair. Shaving removes the guard coat, allowing the undercoat to grow uninhibited, leading to MORE shedding.
Don't Cut or Shave Double Coated Dogs
Plus without the guard coat, they are much more susceptible to sunburn. It acts as a natural UV protector.
so one more time, PLEASE

I had one for 13 years. Best dog ever. Most loyal, playful, smartest, prettiest companion. Great with kids. I miss mine.

I miss my boy rusty every day
as others have said there is a high likelihood of cancer
mine died at age 10
10 best years of my life and I know he felt the same way
I've never had a bond with a dog like I had with him

They aren't made of real gold.

Overly friendly. You'll start to think you're made of bacon after a while

My girl as a 6 week old puppy. She is American golden retriever but mixed with English creme retriever this brings their chances of contracting cancer way down. She is still AKC golden retriever though. I have picture of her on first page she is now 14 months old.

My golden retriever is the best dog I've ever owned. Trained really easy, listens very well. They do she'd extremely bad, even with daily brushing they she'd really bad. My dog gets really bad ear infections, because they have floppy ears they trap in moisture, so keeping their ears clean is a must. And if you plan on letting it adventure into water and stuff I would get a bottle of swimmers ear for dogs.

Do you trim the hair back inside their ears? It really does help with cleanliness and infections.

Was the American/Golden parent dark or light colored? We are getting a mixed English and American Golden this spring. The dad is rust colored and the mom is white. Interested to see what color they are going to be.

Dad was the American and the mom was the English creme(solid white). The puppy I posted should look just like yours.
Look at our hairy daughter and good luck
Her at 3 months
