After reading this thread, I'm considering putting a PI on permanent payroll.

not specifically replying to Ross...just the thread in general...

My Dad was a cheater...so I never will...do...what he did to my mom, me, and my brothers... he did it right under her nose and it was pretty shitty...anybody that cheats...male or female...is fricking selfish...BUT....

imho "cheating" is not just sleeping with somebody else...my Dad had an affair...a sneaky, long, and selfish affair.

slipping up and fricking somebody one time is not the same...everybody makes mistakes...

wimmenz do cheat a lot though..I see signs of it all the time.

Amazing how something so completely opposite of the truth becomes the perceived reality. Women usually fare worse after a divorce than their husbands do and worse than women who don't get divorced.

No one is buying this.

A) the study sample is from the 1970s when divorce was a bigger deal. Likely there was a true crisis for the divorce and anyone who goes through a crisis is generally worse off than someone not having bad shite happen to them.

B) the spouse has a free call option on 60% of the poor schmuck's assets exercisable at anytime and for any reason.

It's more than men because women don't have to have a significant income to be able to cheat.

Of course there is. Never believe a one sided sob story.

Bottom line, dont take them for granted and dont hold on too tightly, theyll resent you for it. Ive heard this same story numerous times.

That doesn't say anything about the actual split, just the economic outcomes between the two.

Doesn't mean that the split itself was just.

Nobody said anything about being "just".

The post I was replying to said this:

With females having it made after divorce like they do

Clearly, the numbers do not bear that out. Women generally do not "have it made" after divorce. Their husbands are usually better off and so are other women who don't get divorced.

In what jurisdiction is that? In some states, the spouse at fault (the cheating wife in the situation I was discussing) gets no spousal support after the divorce is final and can even wind up with less than half of the community property.

To think that women can just cheat on their husbands all they want and divorce them whenever they want to and have it made for the rest of their lives is badly mistaken. I've seen it a LOT of times. Wives usually suffer more from a divorce financially than husbands do, especially when they are at fault, which was the situation we were discussing.

This is a racist thread. With nearly 80% of births being out of wedlock, you're excluding almost a whole race from this question.
Shame on you.

We were married 27 years before she went off the deep end. Mine deserved to suffer financially. She did good at first with the grab and went through it and found out what impoverished felt like. On the other hand, my finances took a hit a first and then rebounded both materially as well as credit rating. I also took a hell of a hit emotionally, but after ten years am crawling out of that hole. Have had a decent share of pussy, but that still didn't take care of the emotional hit.

Good fricking riddance. Now she can frick all the ministers she wants. Oh wait a minute, she hit the wall and had to settle for some old fart in his early 70's.

My attitude towards her these days is just apathetic. Don't give a shite if she is dead or alive.

My end of the deal keeps looking better all of the time. LOL

Every state now offers no-fault divorces. Good luck to you litigating fault.

The fact that there is no-fault divorce in a state doesn't mean people have to take a no-fault divorce. Some people choose to pursue divorce based on fault because they can get a divorce sooner that way, preclude any permanent alimony award and in some states even gain an advantage in community property partition. Also, when it comes to alimony, even if the divorce was granted on no-fault grounds, the would-be payor spouse may still raise fault as a defense to the alimony claim. Fault is litigated frequently in domestic cases, either for the divorce itself or for collateral proceedings involving alimony, community property, etc. Fault can even sometimes come into play in custody proceedings, if the conduct affects the child.
