What manufactures are best for collecting baseball, football etc. cards?

When I was growing Topps, Donruss seemed to be good.

My son wants to collect cards. Fournette's rookie card for example.

My son has gotten into as well. I think Upper Deck changed something I dont see them in the market as much as I used to when I was a kid. But back n my day those were my favorites.

For baseball, I believe Topps are the only licensed ones. No idea about other sports.

Topps has the baseball license. Panini has the basketball and football license. Panini also makes baseball products without team logos. Upper Deck has the hockey license.
