We listen to each other through the walls. That's it.

Been friends with one side for 20 years, the other side, he moved in 6 or 7 years ago, I tried speaking to him a few times, he has never spoken a word. He is single, quite, keeps his place nice and neat. Perfect neighbor.

Mine are incredible which is a big sticking point of why I don't want to sell my home and move.
Plus, I get free Texans tix b/c he's a former Texan. My other neighbor takes care of my house when I'm out of the country as well.

I get along well with the neighbors on either side of me. One is a talker and is always all over the place socializing. The other one keeps to himself and doesn't like to do the neighborhood "events", so I relate better to him and we talk a good bit, oddly enough. We've also helped each other out with a few projects in the past (splitting the cost or doing the work ourselves). Wife gets along well with both their wives.
Other than that, I know few people in the neighborhood. Just not really my kind of folks, although there are a few I will stop and carry on a conversation with if I run into them.

Play ping pong on a weekly basis at my house with two of my neighbors. I have no idea who the neighbor adjacent to my backyard is though.

not in my case.
She's retired. Comes over and cleans the house when we're at work. used to babysit on second's notice when the kids were younger. cooks food that her daughter will not cook for me. waits for deliverymen/repairmen so we don't have to leave work.
in return i take care of all of the home maintenance stuff for both houses.

I have one neighbor who lets their dog out the front door to use the bathroom, even though they have a fenced in backyard. We've caught the dog pissing on our vehicles, crapping in our yard numerous times with the owners even watching. The only time the owner will speak up and act like they care if when they see us outside yelling at their dog. When we aren't outside, the dock craps on the concrete walkway leading towards our front door about once a week. We have thrown it back in their driveway front door a few times. Ask me how I feel about that particular neighbor?

Have you spoken to that neighbor about it yet?

I talk to mine just about every week. We don't necessarily hang out with them, but we have all traded phone numbers and made a pact to watch each others' houses if at work or away. I don't know why some people are so chicken to just go talk about an issue. I think it's the generation brought up on social media and text messages as a way to bypass facial interaction.
That's my get off my lawn statement of the day. I'm out.

I have lived my current house for 8 years. I have not learned the name of a single neighbor. I have interacted with about 5 to tell them to turn down their music after midnight on a work night without issue. Otherwise, no interaction and not an ounce of desire to interact with them.

One side is a family from Louisiana and we've become pretty close. Other side is a two older black women who keep to themselves and keep their yard/property in nice condition. Across the street, I've never formally met, but they are retired and keep an eye on everyone's house during the day.

We have a small gated community where a lot of the men including myself works nights, offshore, etc...we all watch out for each other. Keep an eye on the houses, pick up packages outside if it's raining, etc. But none of use are that close and most interaction is a wave when passing. I pretty much couldn't ask for a better arrangement
