Gossip

I worked in an office where the female boss promoted it. She was more interested in being the top dog and causing division than production. People caught on to her games and most didn't participate in the drama. She had a shite list a mile long...

People who interrupt me while I'm talking. People who talk about themselves and how great they are. People who talk down to other employees. People who already know everything.

It's all the same person at my office.

Telling me about your sad, trashy divorce without me asking about it.

UGH. Spare me! Divorces and health problems. I'm sure we have a counselor in HR if you feel the need to tell someone about it.

People who call out after work starts. We had two offices about 70 miles apart. We had two people based in New hersey snd once a week I needed to go to Long Island. My asst called our after I got to Libg Island. So back in the car to New Jersey. Get back with a long line of pissed off people because it was pay day.

Other job 3 people in office. One on vacation. Me 100 miles away on sales calls. Other person calls around ten she is not coming because of her boyfriend.

Worse! Office opened 345 am and staff came in at 8. I got there at 7 ish and 435 person asleep. As hospitals cc’d staff overnight and they needed to be calked before they left, cost the company a lot! Fired her at 4 pm after trying to salvage unhappy clients and nurses.

That's actually one of my pet peeves.

"Well, we can't do that on a Friday. If something goes wrong nobody will be around to fix it the next day."

"Well, we can't do that on Monday. Everyone's just getting back into the swing of things."

I usually just roll my eyes and let that shite slide, but once I heard some slacker try to extend that Friday logic to Thursday and I did have to call BS on it. Not everything can be done Wednesday at 10:30 AM when you do your 15 minutes of actual work for the week.

I have one better. At a previous job I had, a consultant for a very large software company/cloud service decided to kick off a disaster recovery migration to the cloud on a Friday afternoon. Not just any Friday afternoon, the Friday before Thanksgiving week where we were off Thanksgiving and the day after.

Right now my only pet peeve is when my dog decides to bark at the neighbors when I'm on a conference call. Especially when I'm off mute and talking.

I'm not talking 5, 10, even 15 minutes late. I'm talking 30 mins to an hour.

I'll do the reverse.

Discuss it in person, and then send an email detailing the conversation so there's documentation on the discussion.

If they stay 30 min to an hour after you leave, is it still a problem?

Most people in my office work 4 10s, a few work 4 9s and a 4, and some stragglers work 4 8s. I'll always tack on additional time on my 4 hours on Friday if I need to make up time.

It matters when you're managing warehouse workers. There's a set schedule for production.
