1968 to 1978 was fabulous.

All combined in the Chicago "edna schwartz memorial commune".

Wife co founded and edited the feminist voice.
Blacks trained up in war.
Then you got the symbionese liberation army at home. And that ilk.
Police riot.

Assassinations of the left. Jfk mlk rk.
Nixon resigns.
I loved it.

I am interested in times and places when trade was important and businesses/merchants were as powerful as monarchs. When knowledge was being distributed because of connections with previously unconnected places. A couple that particularly interest me:
Republic of Venice
The Dutch Golden Age

Calm down there Billy Joel. I feel like I'm reading the lyrics to we didn't start the fire
I never could get into "modern" history, outside of the world wars and civil war. All the real interesting stuff to me is antiquity, rise of the middle ages stuff.
Starting to get more into the far East.. Just feel like I butcher all the names and locations which bugs me to no end.

For me it's mostly the 20th century. Particularly the Cold War. I'm also a sucker for any "Last Stand" type stuff. -Wake Island -The Alamo -Thermopylae -The Jews at Mossada
I'm fascinated by the conquest of the Americas by the Spanish Empire. You should add Cortez's Siege of Tenochtitlan to your last stand list.

Every time I think about naming a horse a cool Greek name I think of the show announcers and how they won't be able to pronounce it

Besides in Israel around the time Jesus walked among us, i would definitely like to be around at the time of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Of course, I would like to be able to plan ahead and take some soap, floss, and toothbrush, beef jerky and an AR-15.

Probably the Golden Age of the Roman Empire: After going to Rome and seeing the ruins and artist images of what it wouldve looked like at its peak, simply cant imagine a modern day comparison. The shear scale and detail of this city and the fact taht ir was done so long ago. Its just baffling and awe inspiring
High Point of Ancient China: I've always been interested in anceint China for some reason.
WWI: Thanks to Dan Carlin

I really want to know how the Egyptians built the pyramids and the Britons built Stonehenge.

You forgot perhaps the most important thing: a few years supply of rubbers.

I always dreamed of being a settler of the colonies or the west.
I mean could you imagine. Hey we found a new world. who wants to come get a piece of it.
Only hope I have is some kind of major leap in technology and we find a way to travel to distant planets. Id go start raising 6 legged cattle in a heartbeat

Is it really a last Stand if you commit mass suicide before the other side gets to you?
You're right. I just like the "F*** You" aspect of it. The Romans spent like 2 years building the damn ramp so they could kill the Jews. I would of been pissed.

1955-1965 the best 10 years in the history of America.

My favorite time period is Elizabethan England followed by Colonial America and World War II.
