What is your fall back option?

Let's say you lose your job tomorrow or your burger king checkout has now been outsourced to a kiosk; what's your go-to fall back?
Can't work in the same career field you currently do, and you can't sell drugs, pimp, etc... Nothing illegal and has to be a real occupation. Can't do gay porn either (Sorry to some of you)
You basically have to pick up and start over. Do you have a back up plan or an ace-in-the-hole?
ETA: The reason I ask is I used to work in solar and have a lot of friends that still do. I saw the writing on the wall and got out a year ago. Many of them did not, and have committed themselves and their families to that field. Now it's struggling due to new laws and many of them are very very worried. I guess it's just always good to have a back up plan. I went back to school full-time but I also do some work from home. If school doesn't work out, i'd probably put in a package for military OCS.

Why can't I work in the same field? This is dumb.

I find a construction job and play music. I can make pretty decent cash just playing on the street outside downtown bars. Throw in paid acoustic gigs and full blown shows, and I’d get by.

This is stupid.... I picked a field and obtain a certification so that I have countless fall back options.

Because your job has now been automated, dumbass.

Go to work in customer service for a place with a ton of turnover. Become the regional manager in 3 years simply from attrition.

Are you one of those dumb people that believe the robots are coming to take everyone's jobs? Sorry I don't have a backup plan for something that won't realistically happen to me. My backup plan is to find another job in the same field.

Currently figuring this out. I have been unemployed for 4 months now and can not get an interview. Any OTers hiring? I'll sweep floors at this point just to get some money coming in.
ETA: I am in Baton Rouge.

Not much of a chance that my career will be automated.

Could be that you lost your job over something that keeps you out of the field.
For example, you're a CPA and get caught committing fraud, thereby losing your license.

It's a hypothetical scenario. Calm down and play along. Don't be such a nancy.
