I sit a lot for long periods of time but after I'll go run a few miles. I'm beginning to think stress may be my biggest problem.

you have stated that, and fast food, and a lot of sitting. its not just one thing.

change them all. do slow breathing as a routine for 5 minutes a few times a day. just stop eating fast food completely. that will require you get into food preparation and bringing it to work. its man stuff. grow into adulthood, even if you are already 30.
make a schedule, and get up from the desk every 20 minutes and walk around. do isometrics too.

Glad you are ready to live better.

Periodically check your BP the next few days. BP can fluctuate quite a bit.

If you're consistently >150, I'd see your doctor. Stress alone won't cause your BP to be that high and a couple lifestyle modifications won't be enough to get you in a normal range.

Remember, dukke v et al. care about you.

I'll do that.

So your BP fluctuates throughout the day?

Had mine checked today and it was 152/76. Lady said it wasn't good.

On its face, that would be considered "isolated systolic hypertension". (Google it.) What was it when she rechecked it 5 minutes later? Oh, she didn't recheck it? Or, did you eat, smoke, have caffeine, etc shortly before? Had you sat quietly for a few minutes before having it taken? Nervous types may even have "white coat hypertension". Lots of things can contribute to falsely high readings, and a single data point is fairly meaningless. The best thing to do is learn proper technique and take it yourself with an arm cuff machine or self-test aneroid kit throughout the day, being aware BP is usually highest in morning and decreases throughout the day into night (so don't take it just at night).

My blood pressure was higher at 29. Went to the Dr. and got a prescription. The pills are cheap, no real side effects, and immediately got the problem under control. I actually feel more relaxed and less anxious throughout the day. I'm not one who typically takes medicine - I can't tell you the last time I took a Tylenol - but I'm really glad I listened to the Dr. on this one. You should too.

I have never liked taking meds... Some advil for a headache but that's about it.. Now??? Its crazy the amount of meds I have to take.. Anti-depression. Xanax to help on sleepless night Pain killers. Plus the Humira.. That's some expensive shite. A lady came to show me how to inject it and had 6 pens. doses the first night and then twice a month. She had $7000 worth of meds sitting on my couch. Thank god for insurance... And I have to take it forever....

I've never taken prescription drugs on a routine basis until this latest medical issue. Taking two prescription drugs and a couple of over the counter drugs daily.

Walt, I have some answers and advice, but I'm scared to respond because I think you're trolling, then everyone will make fun of me for falling for it.

107/60 right at this moment. You should get it checked out, but don't panic. It could have been an error, or it could have been a natural fluctuation. Even people with good BP have spikes. The DR will want several readings over time to determine if it really is hypertension. then may put you on medication, or he may want you to try to lower it via lifestyle changes first.
