I’m a dentist and I agree with this statement. It’s embarrassing what the profession has become. There’s still a few good ones out there. But sooner or later the corporate clinics will put us all out of business.

I hope not and feel that in the end, corp dentistry could be a net positive for dentists if they know how to handle their business.

I have a Pacific Dental outfit near my office. I get at least 2 patients per week that they have screwed up. I understand their model of business can be profitable, but the fact that they hire young dentists and pay them poorly, leads to unhappy dentists and patients that have been mistreated. See: Kool Smiles.

I'll just sit back and make a living on treating my long term patients well and fixing the screw ups of these corporate hacks.

If you had been up all night with a tooth ache, I would bet you would allow a general dentist treat you immediately verses a wait that would be weeks at best.

When my root canal reabcessed I was seeing an endodontist 2 days later. Saw my dentist first and then off to endo.

I don't doubt this happened, I was imagining a world where general dentists no longer did root canals. Isn't that what would happen if everyone took your advice to never let a general dentist do a root canal?

This reminds me of the Tom Fitzmorris rule of not going to a restaurant in the first six months of opening. If no one would go in the first six months, they would no longer be open for Tom to try it out.

Think about it.
