SI had a pretty good article about athletes pushing it. I figured these companies are doing well, but then it says at the end that Beyond Meat is not making a profit.

And that's not the point. But the impossible burger could easily be made healthier if they switch from canola oil to avacado oil. The main marketing thrust behind plant based meats is reducing consumption of high resource demand beef production that contributes to climate change. The marketing is directed mainly at people wanting to reduce their carbon footprint by reducing their meat consumption.....and there are a lot of these people.

I'm betting if someone did a study of the energy returned on energy invested of the pesticides, fertilizers, and irrigation used to grow the plants, then go through everything to manufacture patties out of those plants that it's basically a wash when compared to regular meat production.

And most vegetarians/vegans would agree with you. As I've said countless times, its not being marketed towards vegetarians/vegans. Will they sometimes eat it? Sure. Will they base their diet around plant based meat? For most, No.

You should watch "Avocado Wars" on Netflix. They can only be grown in a few places and the huge demand is destroying those environments.

That’s cool. You seem confused. I’m not against meat. Or hunting.

I am against dumbfricks. You meet that.

I don't eat avocado toast but I do like guacamole. And yes, I know it's extra and I want it anyway.

Just saying that if you're eating it for environmental reasons, avocado oil probably isn't the way to go.

I don't care about it either way. I tried the Impossible Whopper, and it tasted close enough to me. Which isn't to say it was good.

Wasn't that mainly about the cartels controlling the avacado trade there? I'm sure there are some environmental impacts in growing avacados or any other crop. But none of it compares to the devastation caused by cattle ranching. But use olive oil, whatever.

Mostly but it also covers environmental impacts. Basically, all available water is getting diverted to the tree farms and the surrounding areas are dying.

Haven’t had one.

I had a bite of a burger made with impossible meat at Bar Louie. I was shocked at how decent it was.

Vegetarians
Vegans
People who are supposed to eat less red meat
Those wanting to cut back on red meat

It’s really not that hard.

Why are you so triggered by ads and the free market?

It amazes me how stupid people really are, how stupid you really are....
Sure they want to capture that group that consists of

But that is not a profitable market, stand-alone. This is why they came up with this marketing scheme, which will fade quickly. Bunch of yuppies like you will buy the product that they challenge you with as tasting the same...they recoup their initial cost to produce the product....they can now sell it as intended to vegitarians, etc. This is just a marketing ploy to cover the expenses of the initial cost to produce, and it's working...for a good lot of us though, why would I want to substitute veggies for meat that taste the exact same when I wanted meat to begin with...and the kicker...for slightly more money...no fricking way I will ever do that. But there's a lot of yuppies like you out there and BK thanks you.
