I'm betting if someone did a study of the energy returned on energy invested of the pesticides, fertilizers, and irrigation used to grow the plants, then go through everything to manufacture patties out of those plants that it's basically a wash when compared to regular meat production.

Wasn't that mainly about the cartels controlling the avacado trade there? I'm sure there are some environmental impacts in growing avacados or any other crop. But none of it compares to the devastation caused by cattle ranching. But use olive oil, whatever.

But that is not a profitable market, stand-alone. This is why they came up with this marketing scheme, which will fade quickly. Bunch of yuppies like you will buy the product that they challenge you with as tasting the same...they recoup their initial cost to produce the product....they can now sell it as intended to vegitarians, etc. This is just a marketing ploy to cover the expenses of the initial cost to produce, and it's working...for a good lot of us though, why would I want to substitute veggies for meat that taste the exact same when I wanted meat to begin with...and the kicker...for slightly more money...no fricking way I will ever do that. But there's a lot of yuppies like you out there and BK thanks you.
