I never knew this was a Louisiana thing and that the song was not a big hit. Same goes the song New Orleans Ladies. Never knew it wasn’t popular nationwide until I moved to Ga over twenty years ago. I’ve always told my wife that if a country artist would cover it it would be a number one hit.

I swear it was played at every school dance and every ball and wedding I attended. Then yeah...realized years later it’s not played outside Louisiana.

I remember it had the same effect at the Texas Club in the early 90’s.
