As a kid or as an adult.

I worked as a welder in a shipyard. Winter was miserable and summer in south La. was brutal.

Worked for one of the scam companies that sold coupon books and made people believe the won a trip to either Las Vegas or Hawaii.

But, the worst job ever. I took a job at a Delchamp's store. Only worked one shift and it was overnight. The manager had me crawl along the entire perimeter inside of the store and clean the area where the walls and floor met. The clothes I ruined that night cost more than the pay I got.

After that first night, I left and never went back.

My summers involve stacking hay bales in small barns while dodging wasps or cleaning out a foot of combined compacted chicken crap and wood shavings.

"marketing executive"

in college was going to various business parks and selling discount/gift cards for golf courses in baton rouge. I was there 2 days before I quit. the 12 hour days were exhausting and nobody wanted anything I was selling... and I imagine they could tell I didn't give a shite about what I was doing

In between semesters I worked for Turner (I think) cleaning out drainage tunnels under an air base. It was nights. Cold, wet, and miserable.

I worked at a casino for a couple of years. The money was good but you had to be around the shittiest people out there.

I was on a roofing crew the summer after I graduated high school.

I was a carnie on the weekends for a year

IDK which was the worst of those four.

The best job I ever had was on a cattle ranch. Tons of freedom. Farm girl puss. Pay sucked. My current job is pretty damn awesome as well. I'm comfy as all get out.

ETA: one summer in highschool I worked on a shrimp boat. That was freakin' miserable.

Shift work in an oil Refinery 10 years ago. Thought I hit the lottery landing that job, two years later I realized I landed a prison sentence.

Left after two years, best decision I've ever made.

Industrial scaffolding

This was one summer during college. My Dad put me and 3 of my good friends on a crew that worked shut downs in plants. Scaffolding a boiler in a paper mill is the absolute worst job ever.

The 4 of us decided finishing college was a pretty damn good idea that summer.

Worked at Best Buy. Most of the customers are just angry Karens. Only upside was the employee discount.

Worked with a road crew one summer between high school and college. Holding a stop sign in the heat for 8-12 hours a day takes a mental toll on a person.

They had this crackhead who ran one of the rides, his wife (who didn't work there) would sit on a bucket next to him. Every time the ride was loading/unloaded she would go search the grass where it swung in case any loose change fell out of pockets.

In cultured areas we'd have to take all the lightbulbs off the rides so they wouldn't get stolen. The rides were all antiques and took some special bulbs that were $20 or so apiece. It'd add up when you'd have a couple hundred get stolen.

This was 15 years ago, I'll try to remember some more. There was always some kind of bullshite going on.

Wasn't an actual job but when I was in grad school for Physical Therapy one of my 8 week clinicals was in two nursing homes in Slidell and I was absolutely miserable. You are surrounded by miserable workers who are only there because they're getting paid more to be there and by mostly miserable patients. I felt terrible for most of them though. No visitors and terrible staff that did not give two shits about them. I will never forget a 95 y/o lady with dementia crying true tears because she didn't tell her mom where she was and she would be worried sick about her. I basically said eff this, no matter what you pay me I will never do this for my actual job. Luckily my mentor was really cool and took me out for beers a few times and bought me a case when I finished up. He was the only thing that made it tolerable. Talked any and all LSU sports all day.
