Blue? Brown? Mix?

Depends on the rain but it's never, ever blue.

Depends on wind and gulf stream. you may have brown or green and even on rare occasion blue.

The people that I know who go to Dauphin are into it more because of the slower day to day pace than the water color. That being said, everybody I know who goes there loves it.

Green mostly. Can be very clear. Awesome non-commercial destination.

Yep, rare like never.
A few years ago blue water was about 5 miles off shore. That was as close as anyone I talked to had ever seen it. I think that might have been the year of the oil spill.

I will rarely but it will not last longer than the next tidal change. I have seen it myself and bigfoot was swimming in it.

Brown, it's a barrier reef. That salt and pepper sand will burn you.

Me and the fam went a few weeks ago. The beaches arent stellar. But its so much more laid back and less crowded that we all loved it. I have a 5 and 8 year old fwiw. Water was brown. The sand isnt trucked in so its not white like other places, but it isnt dirty.

Dauphin island is awesome. No touristy bull shite, and some pretty good fishing. If you don't mind cooking for yourself instead of going out to eat or missing out on the awesome tshirt shops of the rest of the gulf coast, it's a great vacation destination

ummmm.....Sand is not trucked in!!
Sand comes from the smokey mts. many moons ago via chatahochee (sp)river.
Water is green mostly. If we see lots of rain the Mississippi river and Mobile bay will muddy things up.
