Because...just because it's one of those odd things we just accept.

Depends on the flag.

There is a difference between these 2 pictures.

A handful of the Syrians are on our side. I'd go with Berkeley.

Wait, you expected an answer to that idiocy?

I think the answers are pretty obvious to anyone with an IQ above room temperature. You sure you want answers?

So do this. Assume for a second that BowlJackson just immigrated here and actually has no clue why we dispose of the Stars and Stripes in the way we do. Then answer him.

I’m genuinely curious as to what your answer would be.

Better question is why is the US the only country with such a boner for our flag?

Will you have a problem tossing your paper plates with the flag printed on them in the trash after your BBQ? Tossing it in the trash after its time is done is no less disrespectful than the millions of people that will be wearing articles of flag clothing all 4th of July weekend.

Well, a better, better question would be why in the world would another country have such a boner for our flag? If you are implying that other countries don't have such a boner for their own flags, then you're just wrong. Maybe you should watch the Olympics sometime. We aren't the only country where people respect, revere and love their flag. Just because some people are sorry pieces of shite, doesn't mean everyone else is too.

Yes, it is. A flag is a flag. Articles of clothing made to look like a flag are just that, articles of clothing. Same as paper plates. A flag carries with it symbolism that represents all of us, this country, and all it stands for. Not so for paper plates and t-shirts.

While it’s burning be sure to kneel down to show respect to the fallen flag.

I guess the same reason we build statues like the one of us raising a flag on Iwo Jima because our country was built by brave Americans who spilled their guts defending and honoring that flag.
