You act like this happened in 1990. It was only a few years ago.

Hell no. Can you imagine the charges in 2017 if six white boys were to attack a black boy and nearly kill him? Imagine if it were filmed on a phone? They would have received just as harsh or harsher punishments. So sick of ppl crying wolf when a person of a certain race commits a violent crime and it always turns into a race bait situation. So effin over this shite.

For anyone wondering, here's what's listed on wiki. I know it's wiki and that's not always the best site, but this is how I remember it too, so I'll go ahead and post it. If it's inaccurate, sorry and I'll correct it...

quote:

The Jena Six were six black teenagers inJena, Louisiana, convicted in the 2006 beating of Justin Barker, a white student at the localJena High School, which they also attended. Barker was injured on December 4, 2006, by the members of the Jena Six, and received treatment at an emergency room. While the case was pending, it was often cited by some media commentators as an example of racial injustice in the United States. Some commentators believed that the defendants had been charged initially with too-serious offenses and had been treated unfairly.

A number of events had taken place in and around Jena in the months before the Barker assault, which the media have associated with an alleged escalation of local racial tensions. These events included the hanging of rope nooses from a tree in the high school courtyard, two violent confrontations between white and black youths, and the destruction by fire of the main building of Jena High School. Extensive news coverage related to the Jena Six often reported these events as linked.[1]Federal and parish attorneys concluded from their investigations that assessment was inaccurate for some of the events; for instance, the burning of the high school was an attempt to destroy grade records.

Here's the wiki link that quote is from

Jena is a great town.
Good public schools, good people, place where you don't have to lock your doors at night.

Basically a central Lousiana Mayberry.

They bussed these stupid fricks in town to protest just like they still do today anywhere it's perceived blacks are getting shafted.
Keep in mind whether or not they truly are means absolutely nothing.
Fanning the flames of racism is big business in the USA.

6 useless members of society who should've been kicked out of school and had REASONABLE criminal charges pursued. Not attempted murder like the overreaching DA was going for.

Of course the following reaction (which is now almost a cliche) was equally ridiculous as it was quickly apparent that "justice" was not what the mob wanted, they wanted them set free entirely.

Yessir. They tried defending it by saying there were racist events that happened weeks prior to the incident. IIRC, it was 2 or 3 BS things that happened and they were proven to be just that, BS.

What an awesome thing, huh? Just beat the shite out of someone and say they were meanies, to justify it and get charges reduced.

I remember the news interviewing some young black guy in Chicago headed to the Jena 6 protest. They asked him if he knew all the details and why was he going. He said:"I don't know much about it but I want to go because I've never been to a protest before"

It was the fall of 2006. It was my Senior year at Jena when it happened. It happened as lunch ended to go into our 3rd block classes. I had just left the gym (which was where it happened) when it happened. Sadly Justin Barker (the guy they almost beat to death) was beaten up because he was a good friend of the guy who they were really after but he was expelled from school already.
