My wife left the education field to enter health care. She works in the ER and is about to enter nursing school to begin the march toward LPN-->RN-->-->?-->?
I'm an educational administrator, but I'm privy to her experiences in health care and I'd be lying if I said the nursing field (and it's flexible career pathways and salaries) didn't sound appealing at times--even if as a second career.

Make sure she gets her BSN and not just her associates.
The trend is many hospitals all over the country are requiring their RNs to at least have a BSN to work there.
And even if where you live at this isn't a requirement...having a BSN makes you more marketable. Will help you out if are working as an RN and want to move into a different kind of nursing role.

Hardest part this week is deciding if I want to fly first class to Omaha Saturday.
Mileage points rock.

Is getting a BSN instead of an ASN a thing? I know she hasn't decided how far she wants to go yet. She's going to do it in steps over time. I know her LPN program at a community college is basically just year 1 of a 2-year RN program. I imagine this would naturally result in an ASN. She's talked about online RN-BSN university bridge programs, so I know that's on her radar.

Probably the part where you're a nurse. That's probably the hardest part
