and where is Christian Life going and will they compete with Episcopal and Dunham next year?

FWIW, that's a lame name for a school.

Christian Life Academy & the church was absorbed by The Church International from St. Amant. They name everything "The Church" so it's The Church Baton Rouge and The Church Academy.

They are treating it as a name change in the eyes of the LHSAA

Why change the name? And is CLA going to another campus or anything?

The last remnants of CLA will be gone after this school year. Three days before school started they sprung it on us that The Church would be taking over the school. This was due to declining enrollment at CLA over the last few years and it was explained that CLA was going to have to shut down if The Church had not come in to "save the day". I was not exactly happy at the timing of this announcement as it was after everyone paid registration fees and tuition. My oldest son graduated from CLA in 2011 and my youngest son who is now in eighth grade has been there since pre-K.

We are keeping our options open and may return but my son has already been accepted in to Baton Rouge High School so we will more than likely go that route.

There may have been an assumption of debt involved.

I doubt it will try to compete with Episcopal and Dunham. They indicated that they're switching to fundamentalist textbooks from Bob Jones press, so it's likely they're going to shoot for a different sort of customer than those who send their kids to Episcopal or Dunham.

Episcopal, Dunham, and U-High are other options for us. What are the OT's thoughts on quality of education at BRHS vs Episcopal, Dunham, U-High?

All are good. It depends on what your kid feels about them. Mine are at and have been at Episcopal and it has been great for them.

But if he got in BRHS, I would go that way. It's a phenomenal school.

Why would you not go this route otherwise?

I would think the only difference would be whether or not your son plans on playing sports.

There was a long article in The Advocate last week which discussed the change if you want more details. LINK

My son is a baseball player. Not good enough to play after High School but will be a decent high school baseball player.

I would think UHigh would be good option if he plans on playing football in HS, but how likely is he to get into UHigh in the 9th grade? It would first depend on how many spots open up right? I don't exactly know how the process goes from there, but I would think his chances of getting in would not be that great. I am not saying it isn't worth trying, but it might be something to start looking into now.

Application has already been submitted to U-High. Received acceptance in to BRHS last week. I know that we can get in to Dunham or Episcopal if we can pay. 95% sure going to BRHS. I just worry about how he will adjust to BRHS after going to CLA his whole life.
