One of my friends worked at mathernes on highland. He would let me know when they put out the old fruit for the garbage. It never touched the dumpster because I would pull around back and he would load it in my truck.
I was at Albertsons one day and noticed a big brisket in the meat section and the expiration date was the previous day. I stopped a guy who worked in the meat department and showed it to him and asked him if he could mark it down and I would buy it. He proceeds to tell me that he has to throw it away because it’s past the expiration date and they can’t sell it or even give it to a homeless shelter. fricking ridiculous.

Meal plan would allow us to get the cheap sandwiches and a bag of chips on the weekends from the Blimpies in the Union. Friends and I would get whatever we wanted on the sandwich, hold the label down in our palm, and then fumble around with it, chips, and drink when checking out. Ladies always knew, but never cared. Still felt like a bada$$.

Well I'm definitely doing this the next time I can't find a damn stamp.

For a while I checked my power meter daily. If I exceeded the daily allotment, I'd turn everything off that I could (e.g. I couldn't turn the refrigerator off and let what little food there was spoil) and stay there in the dark or light candles.

Late on the thread and not sure if already posted...
But I've 100% taken a few laps around Costco on a Sunday afternoon to save money on lunch.
I'm not proud of it.

I would use my school paid money to purchase books like I was supposed to...... but I'd make sure to buy the books brand new (never used). Almost all of my teachers taught straight from power point so I would just never take the wrapping off the books. Trade them back in at the end of the semester for double the price, cash money, than I could have gotten if I used the books.

Something I do to this day:
I found a 10 ft phone charging cord at Walgreen's about 3-4 years ago, around 15 bucks. It wore out within months. Went and bought exact same cord, returned old cord in same box the following day saying "i got a new phone" and got a refund.
I've done this 3 times now, about to do it for the fourth
so, paid 15 bucks for 4 phone charging cords

Or you could do what I do and go to a local hotel and say you left yours in your room last time you were in town. They will wheel out a cart full of phone chargers. Take what you want and leave

Only gave $2 to a woman for gas when I had more bills on me. She was frantic. This was no scam; she needed it to get back to her suburb.

I would show up the first few days of class to see if I needed a book before I bought them. frickers at the book store would try to load you up on everything. I probably saved thousands of dollars by not buying books I didn't need.
