have been training BJJ since I was in my 30's and will be 50 in January. The last thing I really want to do in my life these days is roll with a 20 something White Belt. tHE crazy thing is I still lift and am probably the same size I was going back to college when I wasn't on gear, which is 220-230 at 5'11". I say that to I guess point out that I tend to draw the bigger new students and they give almost no respect to a colored belt or age. It is balls out try to tap you which is not a good habit in BJJ but it sucks to be the one to have to prove it.

100 percent. I’m over 40 and have been training for over 3 years total now. No way in hell am I rolling with a total newb. I did that a year ago and ended up with a broke rib. It’s not that they mean it, but you know how it is... they just do that shite lol. It’s still a real fight mindset instead of a play around and who cares deal. Takes a while for them to drop that crap and start to “get it”.

Not gonna lie. I totally read that as "best fighting ape" and thought it was gonna be one of those "can you kick a chimp's arse?" threads.
