i think an improvement in our world would be if the government stayed out of it. they frick up everything
Well, when we're talking about how likely it is that ambulance chasers will clog up our legal system and waste taxpayer dollars while simultaneously hindering technological progress that would save lives and greatly reduce or eliminate the "work" for themselves, I think the need for government involvement should be obvious.

Driverless vehicles are the ultimate safety feature. It would be a shame to let lawyers who rely on unsafe vehicles for income to frick up this revolution.

Hilarious, right? The idea that the people charged with leading the nation might actually lead the nation. I can dream, can't I?

This is still America, so I believe you will still have the right to drive your vehicles for the foreseeable future.

If you like driving, you can drive yourself!

will the car get in a wreck to save children on the sidewalk or jump the curb and mow them down while you read harry potter?

The car will be programmed to safely protect the most lives in a potential accident. Example: Say 5 kids run out in front of a driver-less car carrying one lone person. The car may have to make the decision to avoid the 5 kids and hit a pole killing you, the lone rider. The car will take the least amount of lives, thus you "may" be dead.

Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. I know you'll say you'd rather make that decision to avoid the kids or hit them, killing 5 kids and save your own life. The driver-less car actually saves lives.

The scenario I mentioned above is part of the programming problem. The kids were at fault, yet you died. Do car makers have this right? It's a big argument within the driver-less car community.

some day they will all be controlled by GPS and then there won't be accidents or rubber necking traffic jams
