some of the comments said "98". i'm not sure how they got that.

8+11(8) = 96
I agree this pattern is there but so is the one for 40. It's a flawed problem.
Did anyone also notice that the difference between the two numbers on the left side is always 3?

4+7=11+21=32
5+8=13+32=45
6+9=15+45=60
7+10=17+60=77
So 8+11=19+77=96
Pretty simple. Follow the sequence.
5+8=13+32=45
6+9=15+45=60
7+10=17+60=77
So 8+11=19+77=96
Pretty simple. Follow the sequence.

From logic 19. From pattern 96. This appears ambigously a frick problem of the kind did you penetrate 3 inches or did you hit bottom with 5 inches or did her hot dog bun pass 5 grams of gas in 6 second bursts 90% of the time in 4 sessions twenty minutes long with a burst of 15 multiple orgasms with a coverage of 75% of her body with her responses. Being if you had 1 more inch you would get strange pu##y for once in my 58 years of life. Multiple answers as original math problem from original poster. Have a nice day????

96. It is the 2 numbers multiplied together plus the first number.

I see what you're doing, and it's sound. Probably right, could you do me a favor and let me know your opinion on my answer. TIA

1 + 4 = 5
Then take the last number add it to the next line.
5 + 2 + 5 = 12
12 + 3 + 6 = 21
21 + 8 + 11 = 40
It works.
Then take the last number add it to the next line.
5 + 2 + 5 = 12
12 + 3 + 6 = 21
21 + 8 + 11 = 40
It works.

So who would be okay with teaching their children that 2+5= 12 and 3+6=21? This is fricking stupid. Middle 2 answers are wrong, plain and simple. I understand the sequence but that is not how math works. Answer is 19 and anyone who say otherwise are dumber than the people who said the dress was gold and brown.

It's 19 you idiots. The middle two are just wrong.

Is it really though?
Yes. I explained why.

You can make cases for all of them. And all of them are wrong (in absolutes) except the answer 19. As 8+11 will always and forever be 19. Now if you take the small as part of the "whole" and start diving into theory on why 40 is the better answer or why 96 is the better answer.
These things are never in absolutes. There is always some underlying pattern. When there are multiple patterns, the better ones stand alone. The 96 answer doesn't require making a special case out of the first equation. That's why it's better than the 40 answer.

All the equations are wrong. You have to figure the pattern and solve from there.

they are multiplying the 2nd number by one more each row.
for example 5 x 2 is 10 for the 2nd row
4 x 11 + the first number 8

96 is a legitimate answer
Multiply the two numbers on the left and then add the first number to it
4x1+1=5
2x5+2=12
3x6+3=21
8x11+8=96
Multiply the two numbers on the left and then add the first number to it
4x1+1=5
2x5+2=12
3x6+3=21
8x11+8=96

I'm reading the incorrect answers pattern and solving from there.
I'm sticking with 30. Occam's Razor.
Rummy, are you checking this thread, it's thought provoking.
