Have you never watched The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia (2009) or the MTV reality show Buckwild?

The majority of successful people from these areas have to move out of the area to either go to school or get a well paying job. The talent of the area have been mined out just like the natural resources.

My experience in WV was mainly Morgantown and that area is most part "modern".

When speaking to people from central and south WV a lot of them said the easy way to put it is its just a lot of good ol boy networks who don't like outside influences coming in and trying to change things up.

Yup. Get a degree and get job offers from DC, Pitt and Charlotte only a few hours away, sounds better then living around Nitro, WV.

I live in eastern WV (glorified DC suburb) and it's pretty normal out here. Interior WV is a totally different ball game though.
