Just passed and several (15+) cop cars surrounding the school along with a few fire trucks? No link just what I had seen from passing. Seemed like parents were there trying to get there kids as well.

Would a natural gas leak affect anyone working or living in that close vicinity?

i would assume so. Especially if it ignited.

What's this Pc world coming to. When we had gas leaks in middle school they just sent us to the bathroom or the principal if we were using them to be disruptive. Now they close schools?

Well, yes. There's that. haha.
Hmmmm. I may need to further investigate offline. Thanks for the info!

Shelter in Place Lifted at Oak Grove Primary Following Ruptured Gas Line
A shelter in place at Oak Grove Primary has been lifted and students are being evacuated following a ruptured gas line on a campus construction site this afternoon. Students riding buses will be brought home on their normal routes. Parents are being diverted by Ascension Parish deputies to pick up at an alternate site in front of the school while emergency responders monitor the repaired gas line behind the main school building.
No students or staff were injured when construction crews working on temporary buildings hit a gas line earlier this afternoon.
They're being cautious. They probably didn't want a bunch of cars running through the parking lot risking any sparks.

Thought AP schools had early dismissal today anyway?
Posted on 12/22/15 at 3:09 pm to MorbidTheClown
My kids were out at 12:00 right after Christmas parties.

Why the heck were they still in school this week, anyway? That's just mean.
Unless they get extra time tacked on at the end?
