Can't wait for all the OT ballas to brag about their hogh ACT scores. After a similar tgread a few months back I realized that the OT is populated by geniuses. There is not a group anywhere that has as many geniues as the OT.

ACT scores are really pointless.

An idiot friend who fricked off at school and finished with a 1.5 gpa had like a 34 on his ACT.

Objectively speaking, a 25 is "good". Of course, I'm speaking in the context of the normal world and not the magical land of the Tigerdroppings "37 club"

LINK

The only question is whether it's "good enough" and that depends on other factors.

I think that actually proves it's more indicative of the applicant's potential than GPA is.

And it's also the same test for everyone, whereas everyone's not coming from the same high school. Valedictorian at one school may be vastly different from valedictorian at another school

I got a 30 but I was drunk, high, hungover, had two broken legs (ran out of meds 2 days prior), and the building was on fire while I was taking it.

wut??
You do realize GPA is a snapshot of 4 years of high school and the ACT test is a snapshot of 4 hours, right?
Every college admissions study shows that GPA is a helluva lot better at predicting student success than standardized test scores. Fact.

I didn't say success, I said potential.

it also depends on what you normally compare to. i went to a really good high school where probably 50 people in the graduating class were capable of 30+. so, to me below a 30 is pretty meh.

if you grow up in bumblefrick nowhere and one kid gets a 32 and that's unbelievable, then you probably have different beliefs of what is good and what isnt.

and then of course, there's the actual measure of good (on a national scale) that is somewhere between those 2 examples.

I know a guy who graduated from White Castle High School in the early 2000's who went on to graduate from LSU with a 4.0 from their Honors College. Now working for the Justice Department. He scored a 19 on the ACT in high school but had over a 4.0 GPA. I read before where a guy at the University of Kentucky scored a 35 on his ACT with a 2.1 GPA in high school and flunked out of college.
ACT scores mean nothing.

Look at the school you want to go to and see what they require. Above that is good.
