FWIW, if you never drive outside Orleans Parish, you can go years with an expired brake tag. The NOPD dngaf about brake tags, so unless you get pulled over for something else....

If NOPD stops you for driving on the neutral ground, you get a ticket, then they check for an expired brake tag and you get another ticket. If they ask “How’s ya momma an’ dem?”... just say “dey fine.” You have your rights.

It's what Yats (and folks from Kennah, bruh!) call an inspection sticker. You can get them at places that change you earl.

I’ve always hated the phrase “making groceries.”

You go to the store to get groceries....THEYRE ALREADY MADE.

It’s the La government saying: “We are broke and need some cheap money for no reason”.

So it’s a government scam tax masquerading as something beneficial to public safety.

NOPD use to do random break tag checks usually entering or leaving downtown from Tchop but it’s been a while since I’ve been through one. Those guys are overwhelmed and ain’t got no time for these stupid checkpoints.

I’ve been pulled over with expired Orleans parish break tag in other parts of the state and it was like the deputy had no idea what they were looking at. Break tags are superior to what the rest of the state has.

Pretty much. I laughed when I heard the LA legislators were debating getting rid of it (like Texas and Mississippi have) because in a state that's always in the red, they aren't going to get rid of an easy tax generator.

No they aren’t. You’re missing the whole point

They are made once they are paid for and loaded in your car.

I mean all they do is test your gas cap seal, iirc. it has been a while since I lived in a polluted parish.

Where I live they basically make sure your Check Engine light is off (and that it wasn't on yesterday before you cleared your OBDII codes). It's not a perfect system, but I imagine it does reduce air pollution.
