But don't forget we made it to the moon in a rocket designed with slide rules that had a control computer with the same power as the average pocket calulator today.

go on

There's a belief that on the last trip to the moon we were warned not to come back. There's several pictures showing what appears to be a moon base already there. I'm not saying I fully believe it, but it's quite interesting we were running missions fairly regularly to prep, or to go, to the moon. Then suddenly it was stopped. If the goal was to get there, and consider it as potential colony, then why suddenly stop.

Because it's a giant dust rock and we don't have the technology/need to live there long term?

There's millions of acres of untouched land in the world that can support life, why would we spend trillions (that we don't have) making and maintaining a moon base?

I like your enthusiasm, but you're being unrealistic.

First only 20 Apollo missions were scheduled with 10 landings. 6 landed, one failed, and the last 3 were cancelled. It was determined that 18-20 would not be worth costs and risks of 9 more men.

What more could be done with 1980s technology, or 1990s? What advantage gained? What arcane knowledge would now be ours?

Only one nation is seriously talking lunar landings now. It is as much a publicity stunt for China 50 years later to be second as it was for us to be first!

Your suppositions are 98% science fiction.
I wish you were right, since I dream dreams that I will not live to see also!

Yet we do it on the space station full time? With resupply coming via subsequent trips.

It's also viewed as a potential hub for further space exploration into deeper areas. Way to think small though.

Apollo ended because NASA had new goals and less money. They didn't stop going to space after Apollo 17 they just stopped going to the moon. Also, the goal was never to establish or even consider a colony on the moon.

Why would aliens come all the way to our solar system just to sit on the moon and then when we finally figure out how to get there they just tell us "go away and don't come back". But for some reason they're totally fine with us sending stuff in orbit around earth, and just about every other planet in the solar system. Just don't go walking around on the moon and the aliens are cool with it. How do people with these ideas not realize how ridiculous it sounds

The space station orbits 249 miles above earth, the moon is 238,900 miles away. The moon isn't nearly as good of a hub as the space station. With the moon you'd have to account for fuel to land and launch from it. It's both easier to build and resupply from a station orbiting earth than it is the moon.

People said the same thing about the existence of giant squid until 2004. There's a lot of things in our lives we can't explain. Just being devils advocate.

I'm not doubting the existence of aliens just the notion that they're on the moon and are really territorial about it.

So, in all honesty the public is not being informed about what the US is doing...

Strangely ironic that our space program was ran by Nazis...the same nazis that developed rockets and the glockenspiel dynamo device...

About 15 years ago, a hacker was able to penetrate the depths of NASA security and exposed an extra planetary program called SOLAR WARDEN...

Whether this was planted disinformation (nazi specialty) is not known, but it is very plausible many of the "lights/objects" recorded in the sky are man made, to include the triangles seen all over...

Another problem is that much NASA footage is staged, there was a harmless video recorded of GHWB sr getting wheeled around in the Houston space station where in the background, one of the "space" video interviews with NASA was being recorded on a green screen...

Also, in many of the space station exterior walk videos, there are bubbles floating away, scuba tanks, flimsy doors to airlocks and scores of counts of clearly green screen work...

This seems to me that NASA is largely a sham, a cover for something else...
That's what gives the flat earth movement so much steam...if you spend countless hours watching released NASA videos, it will dawn on you that it is staged...

Since I've traveled the world stargazing, I can tell you that the stars in space make the strongest argument to a "normal observer" for a globular world, making flat earth a tough pill to consider...HOWEVER, having been to Guam, and Thailand, Polaris is clearly visible at what seems to be 10 degrees higher than it should be...

Neil Degrasse Tyson explains this in that the earth is fatter below the equator, being as close to pear shaped as it is a perfect sphere...

Have you ever seen an oblate globe in a class room? Probably not. This would also explain the lack of good flight plans across the antarctic ocean...along with the impossible resue capability...

No one is saying that aliens don't exist. I have a hard time believing that we are the only form on intelligent life in our entire existence. Hell, wouldnt even completely disregard alien life on the moon, although its unbelievably unlikely given the obvious difficulties in supporting life in that environment. The skepticism on the idea that there is an intelligent life form on the moon that has been agressive towards human exploration, like most conspiracies, just doesnt hold up when you think about it. Relatively speaking, we aren't just neighbors to the moon. We are roommates. Why would the life on the moon ONLY react when we visit there, but not when we fly any of our other shite by their home. Or, if they are so agressive towards human life, why haven't they seen that humans come from earth and then made contact?

Von Braun is probably one of the greatest minds in history.

NASA didn't waste their time doing Global Warming research and it was cool. People wanted to grow up to work for NASA. Now, they want to work for Facebook, Twitter and Google.

I've got family that worked for NASA back then and I have family that works there now. It is night and day.

I agree except on 1 point...

If you were to build a station in the Congo to observe gorrilas, and a gorilla broke into the station...if you could somehow impart the message that the gorrila wasn't welcome without killing it, would you?

There is a theory out there that the moon is a space station...metallic, somewhat hollow, coated with meteor dust and comet ice after millenia of floating around...

NASA confirmed the moon "rings" when objects hit it

Because it would be freaking awesome! I'd rather fund moon colonies and Mars exploration than most of the shite our tax dollars fund!
