Hebrews 9:27 - And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
John 3:18 - "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:36 - “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Our memories begin firing off and become so overwhelming that our brain "restarts" the "movie" of our life from our earliest memory. The process repeats itself thousands of times per millisecond until cell death becomes too overwhelming to continue the loop. Everlasting life, eternity, the after-life, etc... it's all just your brain recalling and re-experiencing memories of your past.
I am a brain surgeon and totally didn't just make that up.

Remember before you were born? Yeah I don't either. But that is exactly what awaits us in the afterlife... We're not very important.
And it's scary as shite.
And it's scary as shite.

Have you ever heard of the double slit experiment? See the video below.
LINK
This experiment basically says that the fact of observing an experiment can change the outcome. In other words if no one is looking the results don't matter so they don't exist. The video doesn't go into all the detail but if you read more about the experiment it gets even weirder.
If you follow this down the logical path, you end up asking yourself "for the results to be true, what else must be true". First, somehow the experiment has to know it's being observed. That's pretty crazy...
If you go even further, then you start asking yourself questions like "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to see it, does the tree even exist"?
I deal in logic and facts on a daily basis. I'm a black or white guy in my line of thinking and I can't change. I'm all logic. I was really struggling to reconcile my faith based on the world around me. Something occurred to me that changed all of that.
If you consider the double slit experiment and what must be true, then how would something/someone/whatever know the experiment was being watched? It's possible if the experiment exists as a construct of the mind of the "watcher".
In other words we only exist in the mind of the creator not as a separate entity outside of the creator. If you look at the teachings in the bible under this premise, things become very believable.
"With enough faith, you can move mountains". Honestly, that's just silly. Unless... the mountains exist only in the world we think is real but is just a construct in the mind of the creator. The same goes with raising the dead. Nothing at this point becomes off limits or is unreasonable.
There have been published papers that express the possibility of this. LINK
If all of these things are possible, shouldn't the promises made in the bible also be possible?
My faith is stronger than ever based on the fact that there is a logical explanation for what I believe.
I don't think it's reasonable to say "lights out, that's it" with absolute certainty based on the fact we don't live in a perfectly ordered world. There are things we don't understand and can't explain without involving a creator. For instance, leading physicists will tell you that the the universe has been tuned to be able to support life or that we live in a multiverse.
For the universe to be tuned it has to be tuned by a creator. This seems more reasonable than the multiverse theory.
Just my 2 cents....

Your heart stops beating. Lack of bloodflow to the brain causes unconsciousness in seconds. After that necrosis begins almost immediately. From the dead's perspective I suspect it's exactly as it was before you were born - nothing.

For anyone who doesn't believe in God or a creator that's your opinion and one that should be respected.
As for your question, it's kind of paradoxical to me - If we die, and there truly is nothingness...where does our energy go? Where does the energy that molds our opinions, allows us to create the emotions for love and then manifest them physically, actually go? That question really does irk me every time I think about it

What do you mean by energy? Are you referring to conscience? Your conscience is directly tied to the brain. If the brain dies so does your conscience.

If you are scared of nothingness you should consider how you felt or what you experienced before you were born
That was nothingness. And it shouldn't be scary.
If you believe in nothingness you shouldn't be afraid to die. You know exactly what it will be like to be dead. Exactly the same as you felt before you were born.
