Me and my dad both grew up Central country boys. I'm just saying that country/redneck isn't the same as white trash.

There's nobody in my family that I'd consider trashy. My wife's family has a few though.

The answer to this question is simple, and it has nothing to do with level of education or relative wealth. White trash are whites who do not act with common courtesy to those people around them. i.e. speaking overly loudly, rudely, or obscenely in mixed company.

The most excellent quality of the caucasian race is simple common courtesy to those around them, and those who lack this trait are plain white trash, a lower form of humanity.

Any number of these items can be a warning sign.

Stage 1 White Trash: - If all of the US was White Trash, Stage 1 would be Florida. The existence of any of these items in your possession instantly condemns you as the highest level of white trashiness :
-Face Tattoo
-Mullet
-Lifted pickup truck (any brand)
-Truck Nuts
-Skoal in back pocket
-New Iberia Haircut
-Abandoned car in yard
-Ford Mustang or Mitsubishi Eclipse (abandoned or not)

Stage 2 White Trash: This is moderate white trash. Any of these items indicates a moderate level of trashiness (think Livingston Parish). Specimens in this category can function in society, but they are very obviously trashy even under the best circumstances.
-Hummer H2, Ford F-250, or Ford Raptor
-Lower Back tattoo (female specific)
-Satellite Dish in front yard
-Affliction Shirts or hoodie
-Truck Nuts mounted on any car, truck, or lawn mower
-Yeti bumper sticker
-Crimson Tide apparel
-Above ground pool
-Rubber Boots that are kept between the bed and cab of pickup (any model)

Stage 3 White Trash: This is common white trash. These people are everywhere, but with work can pass off as functional human beings unless they have one or more traits of either Stage 1 or Stage 2. Any two of these traits could be indicative of Stage 3 White Trash.
-Cargo Shorts
-Salt Life sticker on any vehicle
-Christmas Lights after new years
-Sportsman fleur-di-lis sticker on any vehicle
-Child named Hunter or Shane
-Any other tattoo
-Collegiate sports apparel (any college) without a college degree
-Dodge Charger, Toyota Celica, Hyundai Tiburon, or Chevrolet Camaro
-White Shrimp Boots
-More than 1 jersey for any professional athlete
