he mentioned some retail pharmacists don't get a lunch break and have to stand for like 12 hours straight or some nonsense.

Isn't that against the law?

Agree with the independent pharmacy recommendation. I had the same feelings as most on here do about retail pharmacies until a buddy of mine opened an independent pharmacy and I switched. My parents switched to a different one that was closer to them. But the experience is much different and much more personable than that at the cvs/Walgreens of the world.

Fighting insurance on your behalf is a big part of their day. Also finding you the best course of medicine for you that also won't break the bank. I had a dr prescribe a combo drug. My buddy looked at it, called him, and got him to approve splitting it into 2 generics. Went from paying like $200 each time to $5. Same medicine. Highly recommend everyone here leave the national chains.

There are some places that will cut and mix their own pills depending on what's required.

I've had the doctor write some weird concoction of crap together and the pharmacist will put it together. That's not your Walgreens pharmacist doing that though. Usually local places.

Not if you’re an exempt employee, and pharmacies have to close without a pharmacist present

I think even the shittiest retail chains are starting to close for 30 minutes for lunch as they’re starting to struggle to staff even though there’s no shortage of pharmacists. There was a shortage, then an over-correction, and now schools are having to drop the shite out of admission standards (relative to 10-15+ years ago) to even fill their classes…and some aren't even able to manage that

Back in the day, we would eat at the counter. I worked retail for a couple of years and then went to a hospital. Much more applicable to knowledge learned in school. Mixing IVs, chemo, TPNs, sitting on drug interaction committees, and doing research for doctors regarding drug therapy. Plus there are a ton of nurses with questionable morals.
