In regards to food, does it mean:

A) You’d slap your momma if she tried to take the plate away from you.

Or

B) You’d slap your momma because the cooking is so much better than what you get from home.

It refers to the fact that your mama likes her phat arse slapped.

Let me add:

C) The food tastes so good you become manic and begin slapping people, even those you love, because your synapses are misfiring?

Seems like a phrase that should come from Alabama, but yet it is a Louisiana thing.

You all are a bunch of freak arse people in the landmass between Texas and Mississippi

I thought it meant that something was so good, it would make you slap your mom - which is something you shouldn’t do - like it’s so good it makes you act bad

My kids think this expression is hilarious - when I sent them to the grocery by themselves they even bought the slap ya mama hot sauce

It was pretty funny when I disconnected the wifi

The original saying is "That tastes so good, you'd slap your mama to get seconds."

Many variations have evolved.

You’ve always been taught to believe your mama’s cooking was the best. You’ve eaten this and now realize she’s been lying to you. You want to slap her for that.

As a foreigner, I had never heard that phrase until I noticed Frank Davis using it a lot. Did he ever explain it, like maybe in the cookbooks he wrote?

Whatever it supposed to mean, I remember my dad did not like that phrase. Never told us why, but he always had that look of disgust whenever he heard it.
