it depends on who I tell it to...
If I say to my wife, "1st thing in the morning" it usually means right when I wake up
If I say to a customer or a friend "1st thing in the morning" it usually means when I get in my truck or as soon as I get to my office.

In personal life, first thing in the morning means after I take my morning dump.
For work, first thing in the morning means around 10am. I have meetings everyday right after I walk in the office; and I spend the first 1-2 hours going through/answering all e-mails that were not deemed urgent from the day before.

If we're talking in a work context, I have a tray on my desk that I keep to knock out as soon as I sit down before the kids start arriving. That's "1st thing in the morning" to me.

It's not auto zones problem, it's yours. And no one cares more than you about fixing it. Shop somewhere else if you want. Bitching about how something didn't go your way won't fix your car.
