I just got back from Emporia Kansas for the Glass Blown Open tourney. I dont play, went with my brother. It was fun to watch for sure. Got to see one of the pros throw a 700yd tee shot to within 10ft of the basket on a par 4. Was crazy.
Some of the shots those guys can do was awesome to watch. I havent picked it up personally, but was fun to spectate for the week.

I really enjoy disc golf. You get outside for a few hours, get a good sweat going, knock a few back. What's not to like?

Go to the one in Baker by the zoo. It's a smaller course, but heavily wooded. I like it because it's more how you play the trees as opposed to how far you can chunk it.
It's also pretty secluded and you hear monkeys howling as you play.

Do you guys play every hole as a Par 3 or do you play whatever the sign at the tee box says?
I've played some courses in NC, WA, ID, and Cloudcroft, NM that are really nice.
Unfortunately most of the courses in southern AZ, southern NM and west TX are just wide open spaces and many of the "fairways" cross each other's paths.

We played it some in college. You could pretty much play it anywhere, anytime. I can't really imagine playing it anymore but it was fun then I guess. I've never really known anyone to take it seriously. It's just a glorified lawn game you play while you are drinking.
You don't know what disc golf is do you.

I like disc golf, I don't care for disc golfers. They're a weird cult always looking for converts like Jehovah's Witnesses or Subaru drivers.

Go to Academy Sports
You can get a Innova Wraith (distance driver) for like $7
and an Innova Judge (putter) for like $7. I have a black Judge with gold lettering

Don't Tell beginners to get a Wraith. Leopard should be fastest.

At 51, it is a sport/game that I can still beat my two sons at. With just a little practice almost any person can get decent and compete against a majority of other casual players.

Grew up playing ultimate and then fell in love with DG. As mentioned, it's cheap and doesn't take much time. It's also a great way to exercise the mutt.
We have several good courses and a strong local club.
Play a few pdga tourneys a year, got my rating up to 989 and hoping to push over 1000 by end of the year.
Drink a beer outside while throwing Frisbee in the woods, what's not to like?
