maybe if you are just starting off $60k is a good salary but if you are in the midst of your career I feel bad if you think that's a good salary in 2017
My actual first year salary was less than 60k and I have an engineering degree and started in the oil field during the boom (I admit I made more with bonuses and such, but not a ton). Very few people made more starting out. Those 90k out of college jobs were for like 5 people in each engineering departments graduating class. Id say the average LSU student starts in the mid to high 30's and STEM students start in mid 40's.....on average. It's a decent salary starting out.

Living cost +$2500 a month is good for a single guy.

Depends where you live.

I used to make 80k but recently quit my job to pursue a ME degree. I hope to make a little more than that in a few years. So to answer your question, anything over 80k is good in my book.

Will you be wearing white boots or a white coat?

I think I make a reasonable amount for being 27, but I'm at the point where I'm looking for more. I always refer to the COL calculators online when looking at prospective jobs. You can put in X salary in different locations and see what the +/- is against your current COL.
I would say anywhere between $40-60k is good, but again it all depends on career path, location, etc.

You ask this on the OT and expect an actual legit answer?

Always seems like I need 20% more than I am making. Regardless of the number.
Current lifestyle and bills I could manage on $100k. My wife thinks we need $200k but that bitch. Is keeping up with the Jones.

M birthday is 12/31 so I feel fortunate that my age in concurrent with each turn of the year. So I look at it on a year by year basis.
My only goal each year to grow and improve myself each year. that includes income, wealth, status, relationships.
If I have that I feel pretty happy.
I have been fortunate to grow my income each year for the past 7 years. I know that may level off sooner or later.
live richly with everything that is around you.

Something on the order of 125k+.

That's a lot more realistic and in line with what the actual statistics show.
For some actual data driven examples of starting salaries in Louisiana as calculated as being the bottom 10% of their occupation:
Chemical Engineer: almost $70k
Electrical Engineer: $58k
Mechanical Engineer: $54k
Accountant/Auditor: almost $40k
And these are all generally considered to be desirable occupations with good career paths.

Anything over 100k combined should be plenty of money in most of the country.

120k is about the lowest I am comfortable with.

Salary = W-2 = non-ownership = fast track to nowhere
