I don't get the hate for the act of protest. Many important social changes have been brought about due to pressure from protest, which is why we have the rights to free speech, free assembly, and free association.

Yeah, people protest a lot of dumb shite. Why not attack the rhetoric directly rather than attack these people's willingness/ability to get involved with an issue, even if it is a dumb one?

Because it's bullshite that the left basically hires these folks to go out and cause trouble. All the while the folks paying for this country to run are working their fingers to the bone.

is it really fair for them to shape public policy

The other day I was wondering where else in the world does the minority dictate to the majority.

Then I remembered it was in Iraq! Saddam Hussein was in the minority (15%) yet ruled Iraq with an iron fist.

Look where it got them....

We should cut off social welfare and THEN see how many of those people want to work to eat.

Starvation is a great motivator

Why can't a person have a job while on welfare?

Why can't the people on welfare do work for the community for their check? There's a lot of litter that needs picking up, grass to be cut, ditches to be dug, etc. We're already giving them the money, and they're not going to contributing (paying taxes) any time soon. Why not get it out of them that way? It will also allow for drug testing of recipients. Which should be happening now.

I do all of these except smoke cigarettes and I have never protested a day in my life.

It's a tactic that is as old as time and has been used on the left and the right in both the ancient and modern world.

It sucks, but when it comes time to protest about real issues, I suspect you won't be saying anything about why people have the time to do it.

Lots of people hold full time jobs and still find the time to protest about stupid shite, it's amazing what indoctrination will make you do with your spare time.

I don't know, I would assume if you can be outside of a health clinic on a weekday morning, probably something in the service industry or unemployed.

It's not like you can go to your boss and say "I need the morning off, I want to go harass women and swing around a sign with a dead fetus on it"

the protesters at the the planned parenthood in Colorado are paid by Focus on the family to protest. Apparently 90%+ of the anti abortion protests are paid protesters.

Money being funneled to these groups via George Soros

He's got so much cash bet against the Dollar and the economy, that he's supporting any and all types of radical fronts that could cause turmoil.

He backed the Occupy movement, big time, but it fizzled, everyone laughed at those Hipsters and Yuppies.

When they were in fighting at the St.Louis #BLM group, one of them got pissed and released a piece of paper with who was getting paid and how much.

All cash was being funneled via a Soros backed foundation.

Some of your leaders of those protests get paid to either show up or shut up.

We had a local "Reverend" who passed a few years ago who protested here all of the time over racial issues and it was revealed he was on the local school system's payroll as a "diversity advisor". It was always assumed it was cheaper to have him on the payroll then to deal with subsequent lawsuits he would push from community members against the district.

2 problems with this.

1. Makes too much fricking sense so obviously it won't get done.

2. Votes cost money mayne and that money you don't have to earn.

It's a two pronged issue IMO:

1) When said protestors begin attempting to influence government policy by acts of violence, looting, inciting riots, etc then it's a safety issue. And at that point they're by definition domestic terrorists.

2) When people are afraid of speaking up against these protestors, which represent a vocal minority, for fear of backlash so harsh it could ruin their lives, there's an issue IMO.

Protesting in itself isn't the issue as much as the tactics that are being used.
