Not really "old". papers continue to be written about the probable link.

Solid antiperspirants are made with several ingredients, including wax, a liquid emollient and an active-ingredient compound. It's the active ingredient that gives antiperspirants their sweat-blocking power. All antiperspirants have an aluminum-based compound as their main ingredient. If you look at the back of an antiperspirant container, the aluminum-based compound is always the first ingredient listed. Here are a few of the common active ingredients: Aluminum chloride Aluminum zirconium tricholorohydrex glycine Aluminum chlorohydrate Aluminum hydroxybromide The aluminum ions are taken into the cells that line the eccrine-gland ducts at the opening of the epidermis, the top layer of the skin, says dermatologist Dr. Eric Hanson of the University of North Carolina's Department of Dermatology. When the aluminum ions are drawn into the cells, water passes in with them. As more water flows in, the cells begin to swell, squeezing the ducts closed so that sweat can't get out.

Haven't used an antiperspirant in over 10 years, just use a speed stick deodorant. Lots of logic in the arguement for antiperspirant being a key factor in Alzheimer's
I've had similar fears since Alzheimer's is in my family history. FWIW, Web MD disputes those claims.....

But the findings of these early studies weren’t replicated in later research, and experts have essentially ruled out aluminum as a possible cause of Alzheimer's.
quote:
"There was a lot of research that looked at the link between Alzheimer's and aluminum, and there hasn't been any definitive evidence to suggest there is a link," says Heather M. Snyder, PhD, senior associate director of medical and scientific relations for the Alzheimer's Association.

According to the experts interviewed for this story, the aluminum in antiperspirants doesn't even typically make its way into the body.
"The aluminum salts do not work as antiperspirants by being absorbed in the body. They work by forming a chemical reaction with the water in the sweat to form a physical plug... which is deposited in the sweat duct, producing a blockage in the areas that it's applied," says David Pariser, MD, professor of dermatology at Eastern Virginia Medical School and past president of the American Academy of Dermatology. "Even [with] nicks from shaving, the amount is so negligible that it doesn't make a whole lot of scientific sense."

I don't use deodorant/antiperspirant. Apparently I am a weird alien person who does not smell like anything. Confirmed by several gfs and my now wife who is not afraid to tell me anything.
The only exception is if I'm playing sports or working outside in the heat for a long time. But everybody stinks after that shite and deodorant in my armpit doesnt do anything for it anyway.

I use the wet gel sticks of these. For a couple of years it was straight Wolfthorn, but recently I've used Lionpride and I'm using Bearglove now, gonna give Foxcrest and Hawkridge a try as well.

don't use one.
I shower after the day.
if I need to, I shower in the AM.
My wife likes the way I smell.
I often use scents. various new age concoctions. not on the arm pits though.
a dab under the chin.

Arrid Solid.
The rest of your body may sweat but I guarantee your pits will be dry.
