WHen I'm next to my computer, I'll answer the call, and then get it to where I can talk to an actual person.

I then open up this LINK and proceed to talk to the person using the soundboard. Usually the people from India do not understand the humor behind it, but I recently got a woman in the US who knew exactly what I was doing. She was actually pretty cool about it and removed me off the call list.

You can try Nomorobo.

If you register your number, then all you have to do is let the phone ring once. If it is a spam then you won't hear a second ring (in most cases, if one does get through simply report the number).

Some of the newer phones give you a "Scam Likely" warning, simply block that number and you will get the same one ring.

Don’t answer the phone

Doesn't help. I tried ignoring suspicious numbers. They didn't give up. Same number called again and again.

The Hiya and PrivacyStar apps are good.

I used to answer and pretend to fall for the scam as both revenge and running interference, but the last several times I answered they immediately hung up.

Truecaller demands access to all of your stored contacts if you want to use the auto block feature. It still tries all the time to get you to click “yes” to allow your contacts to go out even if you don’t use the auto block. That’s why truecaller will sometimes give a result like “T’Boo” or “Bae.”

Just keep blocking them; they finally stop. At least they did for me.

Have you tried the app "HIYA" ? It reduced my spam calls by 95%.

It's a caller ID app that is pretty good at recognizing numbers. It's also got user generated feedback that labels callers as spam. You can set it to autoblock spam labeled numbers or you can block them individually as you get them.

The vast majority of calls without a name on the caller ID are spam. The vast majority of calls with a name are legitimate.

I got one a few days ago from the "Department of Treasury" saying I was named in a lawsuit and that a warrant for my arrest was issued.

Whenever they call me, I often wonder if they play the GOT HEEEEM gif on loop while laughing at me.

Most states have a "do not call" list that is enforced by your public service commission. Find yours and join it...

The majority of these callers got your number illegally or are using illegal means for the call already. The do not call list doesn't help.

Are you good at making any accents? I happen to be, and when these low-life’s call I simply start talking to them in either a red neck or British accent and within 1-2 minutes they realize I’m messing around and hang up and never call back.

They get annoyed because I’m wasting their time. Funny how that works.
