I have not seen the same degree of hostility as to cats (breeder vs. rescue). That said, I have one pure breed form a breeder and two "rescues" (strays that we adopted and brought inside).

All the cats I've ever owned have either been strays or the offspring of strays. Never even crossed my mind to pay for a cat.

My gf's adopted dog
He walked into their store, they asked around and no one claimed him or knew. So they brought him to the SPCA and vet to check if he was chipped, he wasn't so they took him in.

Rescue pigs are the only way to go. Pig breeders are tPOS's
