Will have to read this. Faulkner has always been a writer that I've wanted to be in to, that I thought I should be in to, but have never been able to get in to.

Anybody know of a book that explains the Carcosa/Yellow King angle from True Detective? Would be interested to read up on it.

Learning a lot about the finer-grained things in life, like cherry and maple wood.

Tell me more about this one. Is it more Captain/ship based?.. or more military/Navy based?

You will find Sanctuary a BILLION times easier to get into than the others.
I read The Sound and the Fury and As I Lay Dying over the past month or so, and while they were good, they weren't as gripping as Sanctuary. My heart is racing at points in this one. It's more plot-driven. Faulkner usually focuses more on his language/writing over plot.. but he was forced by publishers to write a "readable" book and he wrote this one.
In some editions, you can read his preface where he complains about having to appease the dumbs.

Don't care. I'll be dumb. This book is good.

I'm graduating in a couple months with an English - Literature degree, so it's partially my own tendencies. But my teacher did the same too.
I love the book. It only gets better each time I read it.

Hmmm. Why?
Don't really want children (I know.. spare me the "you're young" stuff.. I know I might change my mind

And I think it's really interesting to read how people reached that decision for themselves. Plus, the stories are hilarious.

Listening to a couple and reading a couple. I've always got three or four at various stages.
Listening to: Dad is Fat Jim Gaffigan
Let's Explore Diabetes David Sedaris
Reading:
Pound Foolish Helaine Olen. (whoever posted Dave Ramsey-I suggest this book. She destroys him and Suze Olman among others.)
Five Days at Memorial Sheri Fink. Memorial Hospital after Katrina. It's a hatchet job but an interesting read.
David and Goliath Malcolm Gladwell
Oh and I'm listening to The Wolf of Wall Street and the reader is phenomenal. Hilarious.

The book consists of different stories and techniques Captain Abrashoff's used to turn the USS Benfold to one the most admired and efficient ships in the United State Navy. The reflections and key points focused on can be applied to any area of the work force (or life for that matter). It's a great book that tutors leadership and productivity.

I purchased the book after seeing the movie and still haven't watched. I won't get to experience the reader, but this gives me some motivation to open the book.
