Imagine the interviewer naked.

1. know about the company, products.
have some realistic reason you would like to work there.
2. know your own reasons for quitting each job. find a way to make a positive out of it. you were going TO something better specifically.
3. state your worst characteristic in its flip side as a positive.
they will always ask your worst thing. if you are obsessive, say, you stay focused until you complete the task. never give them ammo.
4. at least pretend to like people. smile now and then. breath and relax a few times during the interview.
5. don't use drugs before you have the interview. if you have lunch with someone from the company, don't drink with lunch.

Well being qualified isn't enough. You have to get them to like you as a person too. You're going to be working with them after all. Also have great questions prepared.

Try to take control of the interview. Ask them as many questions as they as you. Also, do your homework! You should know all about the company including their economics, safety record, dividends, benefits, and etc. Very important to show that you have studied them as much as they have studied you.

Not sure I have ever seen/heard this phrase.

One thing a lot of people don't think of - clean up your Facebook if you have it. Companies do go looking and some of the stuff a friend found doing this makes for entertaining stories.

Whenever I get the HR style interview where the ask those bullshite questions like "how would you handle this...". Give sarcastic answers. It worked out for my well in the past.
If they just want to shoot the shite with you, that's the easiest type of interview to do well in, and if you fail at it then I can't help you.
