It's a thing, but rare. And a lot of miss information about it because of political agendas. I don't thing anyone would say it's not a thing though.

The bit about Anthony Johnson isn’t true. He was a black landowner in the 17th century, and did have a number of slaves and indentured servants, but he was far from the first slaveowner in the Americas, even after British colonization.

I know its probably often said in a joking manner, but anyone who really believes this, its the same mindset that it takes to be ultra conservative.
