I remember the incident with Mike and that guy in 88 . LSU police had to rely on Jose Vargas to talk him down.
I was driving through campus that evening with friends and saw cops and commotion by Mike’s cage so we got out to see what was up. We were very close and I remember Jose Vargas coming out and talking to the guy while the police were hiding behind oak trees.
The girl who got killed on the Indian Mounds was named Courtney Smoak, I think. The guy who drove the car was from Covington but I don’t think he was actually enrolled. He had a passenger from Covington who was still in high school. Last I heard, the driver died of some brain infection or something.
No one mentions the Theta Xi pledge who was killed at night during a hazing stunt in 1980 or 1981. Blindfolded and got run over because he thoughts the warnings to get out of the road were a joke. At least that’s what I heard.
How about the blind guy who ran a concession stand in Power Hall? He supposedly could identify bill denominations by feel.
Nicholson Hall, or whatever the physics building was, had a machine with the big bottles of Coke for a quarter.
Prior to 1982, the parking lots right next to the quad were open parking so students could park there - first come, first served. Also, they didn’t have posts to block vehicle access to the Quad so I’ve been in a car on the Quad late at night before.
On the back side (south) of Peabody Hall (or whichever building is the southern border of the Quad) is another, smaller Quad. We always called it the Old Quad.
