Teddy Roosevelt failing to support Korean Emperor in the early 1900's encouraged Japanese aggression in the region and eventual occupation. This eventually lead to the Japanese version of the Monroe Doctine called the East Asia Co-prosperity sphere. Passive allowance of Japanese political and military domination of the region CAUSED world war II in the Pacific.
And we put that assholes face on Rushmore.
Dont get me started on the attrocities in the Philippines that occurred at the same time with William Howard Taft as Gov of the Philippines. Thousands died and we pretty much invented water boarding. Heavily used there.
Roosevelt believed heavily in manifest destiny and Aryan race rule. Pretty common at the time, but Roosevelt botched Asia in a way that cost the United States, its allies, the Japanese and all the local populations MILLIONS of lives.
frick that guy.
I'm sure Teddy knew all that would happen at the moment when he made that decision.

You sir need to do some reading. The reason the Japanese were confident enough to exert themselves was tacit US approval of their actions in Korea to start with. it went on from there and grew.
Roosevelt viewed Japan as the only "westernized" nation in Asia, therefore racially superior to other asian populaces. China in particular.
Japan after the Meiji restoration in the 1860's adopted western warfare and built a serious military capability as shown in the 1905 war with Russia. The US silently and unofficially encouraged Japans dominance in the region. As a result the Japanese had the confidence to aggressively pursue other resources in Asia.

No, you need to better understand logic, causation, and the endless number of variables and uncertainties inherent in international policy making, especially when extrapolating over a period of many decades.
You quite clearly have an emotional bias in regard to Roosevelt. You can dislike his policies in the region and some of the unexpected consequences, but to blame him so vehemently for Japanese brutality and conquest and the entire war in the Pacific and it's deaths is simplistic nonsense.

Without them, we probably wouldn't have the culture of violence, hate (both sides) or race cards.
And basketball and football games would be a lot less entertaining.

And lord knows that a higher entertainment value in contemporary athletics trumps all the socio-political factors that resulted from slavery.

But I seriously wonder how the black community feels about slavery. Would they trade the brutality and indignity forced upon so many millions of blacks over the centuries if it meant that America were to be a nation virtually devoid of blacks and they would have remained in Africa?

How much did France sell Louisiana to us for again?
They were cash-strapped and too extended with domestic issues. There was no way they were going to colonize the Americas.
But they should have at least kept the mineral rights.

That WW1 soldier that didn't shoot and kill young Hitler when he had the chance. At least that's how they told it on the History channel.

That some idiot designed I-10 to go down to one lane. How that has not been fixed yet blows my mind. Imagine the hours of people's lives that have been wasted sitting in traffic because of that.

Had Truman not relieved MacArthur, WW3 would likely have happened.
Or we would have the United States of China.
Or we would have the United States of China.
