How do those little buggers excavate such a large area for an underground nest?
Damn!

When I worked for a yard service back in college I hit a nest that was in a hole withe a weedeater. I felt them hit my leg and thought it was just stuff from the weedeater until the pain really set in.

I saw what it was and how many were coming out of the hole, I took off toward a pond in the back of the house. They stopped chasing me after about 25 yards or so. I think it was because I dropped the weedeater and we had it set to not kill so the engine was still running and they were swarming it.

We had to call the owners and they called an exterminator. We stayed because we had to get our equipment. Pretty cool watching the exterminator.

damn that's a nasty looking bunch.

These suckers like to build nest on the edges of flower beds. Went over on with a lawn more once and they tore me up. Aggressive little demons.

My dad was stung by 3 yellow jackets mowing while i was still in HS. Heard the cursing from inside. Without hesitation he got out the gasoline and lit the tree housing the nest on fire. This palm tree was about 5 feet from our house. Our next door neighbor was crying laughing so hard, and my mom was absolutely livid.
