This is true.
I've taught my daughter that she has the right to defend herself. If someone attacks her, she has my permission to hit that person until they go away. She was worried about getting in trouble at school. I told her that as long as she didn't start a fight, and that she was defending herself, she would be not be in trouble with me, which is what really matters. I would deal with her teachers if that came up.
Right after I was elected to the school board we had an issue come up . One student had been picking on another for quite some time, had even hit them and such and then it broke into a fight, the bullied kid finally fought back and our principal suspended both kids, the parent of the bullied child raised hell and got a meeting with the school board. The rest of the school board wanted to back the Principal, I was pissed. No one should get suspended from school for defending themselves. I won that debate, we no longer have a suspend everyone who fights policy at our school.

I don't think anyone got it as bad as the kid who play Anakin Skywalker. It turned him into a psycho.

I was bullied constantly at school. I went to 7 different middle and high schools. My parents finally decided to home school me because of it.

For one semester of one school year when I had just switched schools and I was an awkward gangly freshman, I was bullied in one class by three older guys. One I eventually became sort of friends with, one I eventually punched on the arm and although he laughed it off he never hit me back, and the other I recently found out is now gay.

Moving around a lot definitely contributed to it. We moved to a different town every 2 years or close to it. No time to build any real friendships, always the new kid

I was not, but Ive always hated it. I tried the discourage others from doing it when I was in hs. It's very upsetting to me when I hear stories about it.

all of us get "bullied" at some point as children. Even the "bullys". While its worse for some than others, it truly is part of growing up. To some degree, we determine how far it goes, once you take a stand (whether physically, verbally, whatever..) it will continue. Children need to learn more of that rather than run and crying to a teacher. It worked fine for my kids... IMHO

Nope. I was always the biggest kid and good at sports. I made sure no one small got picked one

Not in school because I was friends with everybody always. Most friendly superlative crap and fraternity officer type of likes everybody kind of guy.
But I was RELENTLESSLY bullied by my older brother (4 years older). He would randomly punch me, destroy my belongings, whatever it took. I had to lock myself in the bathroom and barricade the door literally dozens of times. He relished tormenting me, took out all his anger on me and it had a terrible effect on my psychology well into my thirties.
Because of this, I was always getting in fights in HS/college with much bigger guys. I wanted to "punish the bully" sub consciously. I hated authority-especially up the chain at work. I basically had a huge chip on my shoulder. It was so bad that I had a reocuuring nightmare for DECADES in which I literally hit Mrs. Pimp in my sleep. Just the sub-conscience constantly working on me without me really knowing it.
My brother made it up to me in the teen years. He made a conscious effort from there on until he died. And we became close. But the damage to my psyche was done, and I had to specifically address what my issue was in my mid thirties. In my own life I address it wherever I see it at all times.

When I was a freshman I got bullied by the seniors. But I was never bullied by kids ny own age. I sat around and watched others get bullied and now at my older age I wish I woulda stepped up, but high school kids and younger just dont see the bigger picture of kids getting bullied.

So you vote for candidates, not based on policy, but because you were teased as a child? Good Lord
