Were the Pharaohs Black?

I saw this almost identical poster today as a part of Black History Month; it said at the bottom 'WE DID NOT BEGIN AS SLAVES"
I don't know much about blacks in Egypt; I know we usually get white actors to portray them, but we also do for Jesus and he was black.
What evidence do we have that the pharaohs were not black? Why don't we make more of an effort to portray history accurately? Each generation only learns form the previous one.

Everyone in that region was dark. Blacks owning blacks is s concept a lot of people can't wrap their heads around.

The Egyptians were black.

Where have you been? The culmination of all of civilization's greatest achievements were headed by black people. Just look into a grade school history textbook. Hell, even Snow White was black. It's just the systemic racism that says different.

Does not compute. Even all the mummies that have been found from this time have not shown to have the same features as depicted in that poster.

No he wasn't. He was middle eastern.
Maybe some of the pharaohs were black. I don't know about back then but the majority of Egyptians today aren't black.

I'll never forget this... back in 5th grade, a social studies fair project next to mine was "5 Presidents you didn't know where black... George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, John Q Adams, and Zachary Taylor"
